What is Thymosin Alpha-1?

An immune-modulating peptide naturally produced by the thymus gland. Approved in over 30 countries (as Zadaxin) for hepatitis B and C treatment, though not FDA-approved in the US. One of the more clinically substantiated peptides in the wellness space.

How it works

Modulates the immune system by enhancing T-cell maturation and function, promoting dendritic cell differentiation, and increasing natural killer cell activity. Acts on toll-like receptors (TLR2 and TLR9) to bridge innate and adaptive immunity.

What marketers claim

  • supercharges the entire immune system
  • cures chronic infections
  • prevents all illness
  • safe for everyone with no downsides

What evidence supports

  • approved in 30+ countries for hepatitis B and as an immune adjuvant
  • clinical trials show improved immune response in immunocompromised patients
  • studied as adjunct therapy in certain cancers to improve immune surveillance
  • demonstrated safety profile across multiple clinical trials

Best for

immune support under physician supervision, particularly for those with chronic viral infections

Safety notes & concerns

  • not FDA-approved in the United States
  • most robust evidence is for hepatitis and cancer adjunct therapy, not general wellness
  • immune stimulation could theoretically worsen autoimmune conditions
  • unregulated US supply chain — pharmaceutical-grade versions differ from research peptides
  • injection-based administration carries infection risk
